Phraser (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app and website designed to help you turn your own notes into personalized phrase quizzes. This policy explains what data the app and website handle and what we do — and do not — do with it.
What we store
Your phrases stay on your device. The phrases you save, your progress, and your preferences live in local storage on your phone. We do not upload your deck to our servers.
When you ask Phraser to generate a quiz or explanation, the specific phrase or text you selected is sent to a third-party AI provider to produce the response. Those requests are used only to return the result and are not linked to an account or profile.
The friend-sending feature
If you turn on “Receive phrases from my friends”, Phraser generates a random inbox link for you and stores pending phrases in a database row indexed by that token. The row contains:
- The phrase text your friend typed
- The name they entered as the sender
- The language tag you were practicing at the time
- A timestamp
These rows are deleted from the server as soon as your device claims them. If you never open the app again, the rows remain until manually purged. Turning the feature off in the app disables the inbox.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, emails, or passwords
- No advertising identifiers
- No cross-site tracking
- No sale of personal information
Analytics and crash reports
We may use the platform’s built-in anonymous crash reports (Apple or Google) to diagnose bugs. These reports contain no personally identifying information and you can opt out in your device settings.
Children
Phraser is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, surface a note inside the app.
